United gives customers a pick-me-up with coffee from illy

Just as the style of coffee you prefer can reveal a lot about your personality, an airline’s coffee says a lot about its brand. That’s certainly true at United, which announced in November that it will offer illycaffè premium blend on board and in United Clubs worldwide.
In addition to being the clear winner during extensive taste tests with customers and employees, both on the ground and in the air, illy reflects United’s global network and its commitment to creating a premium experience for customers in every cabin.
Based in Trieste, Italy, with more than 80 years of history in the coffee industry, illy worked with United on all of the factors that go into making the perfect cup of coffee, from the blend and water to the preparation and training of those who brew it. Speaking of blends, the Italian coffee maker’s distinct flavor comes from a unique fusion of the top 1 percent of Arabica beans, purchased directly from the best growers in Brazil,
Central America, India, and Africa.

United has already begun rolling out illy’s signature scuro dark roast and espresso in United Club locations, with the scuro dark roast coming to flights worldwide this summer.
