We March for the March of Dimes

Welcome aboard, and thanks for choosing United

jeffProviding you with safe and reliable air transportation is our top priority, but we do far more than that. We make a positive difference in the communities where our customers and employees live and work.

For 10 years, we have enjoyed a great partnership with the March of Dimes, whose mission is to help moms have full-term pregnancies and to research the problems that threaten the health of babies. In celebration of our 10th year of partnership with this wonderful organization, we are stepping up our support to the March of Dimes in a big way.

For the last nine years and again in 2015, United has had the privilege of flying the March of Dimes National Ambassador families across the country to share their personal stories and experiences. The National Ambassador Program is an annual campaign that helps raise awareness on the need for research and community programs to prevent premature birth and birth defects. The families have all brought something unique to the organization, and our 2015 National Ambassador family is no different.

This year, 10-year March of Dimes volunteer and United employee Elise Jackson, her husband, Todd, and son, Elijah, are serving as the 2015 March of Dimes National Ambassador family. Early in 2002, Elise and Todd unexpectedly welcomed their son Elijah at just 25 weeks, weighing a little over one pound. I’m happy to report that with help from the March of Dimes, Elijah is doing very well today. The Jacksons hold a special place in our United family, and we’re excited that we can help them share their story with the country.

Additionally, John Rainey, United’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, was named national chair of the 2015 March for Babies walks, the organization’s largest annual fundraiser. As national chair, he has committed to raising a minimum of $1 million for March of Dimes on behalf of United this year. With his leadership and help from employees, business partners and you, our customers, we look forward to meeting and exceeding our goal.

The March for Babies walks are taking place in locations across the country, beginning next month. For more information and to support healthy babies, please visit marchforbabies.org.

Thanks again for choosing United. We appreciate your business and look forward to welcoming you back soon.

My husband, Jason Armistead (Global Services JM734074) and I would like to thank you for supporting the March of Dimes. Our son, Jake, was born 5 weeks early. Although he was a butterball at 8 pounds 3 ounces his lungs were not developed and he spent 2 weeks in the NICU. Research funded by the March of Dimes in the 1980s helped develop the drug that saved Jake’s life in 2007. He is an avid flyer, and most likely, one of your youngest Global Services members (UYC10304). Thank you for your support,
    Erika Wolfgram-Armistead
