Leica’s latest camera heads off catastrophe with a curve-hugging case

When your bags are unpacked and the gifts are distributed, the last remaining link between you and your vacation will be your camera — which is why it’s important to protect it from harm on your travels. But since nothing screams “tourist” like a bulky camera bag, Leica has introduced the tiny D-Lux 5: It not only offers dazzling image quality from a 1/1.63”-CCD sensor that’s unusually large for such a small camera, but also has a companion leather case that protects it from the abuses of the road (and you from the askance looks of stylish locals).

Camera, $799; case, $175 / www.us.leica-camera.com
